I'm staying at the Victoria Hotel in Amsterdam for 5 nights, March 21-26.That's right next to Centraal Station, so I should be well positioned fortrips into the countryside. (This is my first European trip.)

1. Which towns should I visit?

2. Is it worth it to buy one of the three or five day Holland RailPasses,with unlimited train travel?

3. When they say unlimited, does it include my trip from Schipol toCentraal Station?

4. When they say unlimited, does it include Tram rides in Amsterdam?

Answer: It really irks me to hear this advice from Americans who are well-heeledenough to travel to Europe. The Netherlands has clean, efficient andconvenient public transport. The cost is eminently reasonable and issupported by the Dutch taxpayer and Dutch commuters who adhere to the honorsystem. Maybe some homeless people and teenagers play this game with thetransit cops, but what excuse would someone who can afford a plane tickethave for stiffing working class Dutch people out of a few guilders?
