Question: I'm staying at the Victoria Hotel in Amsterdam for 5 nights, March 21-26.That's right next to Centraal Station, so I should be well positioned fortrips into the countryside. (This is my first European trip.) Questions? 1. Which towns should I visit? 2. Is it worth it to buy one of the three or five day Holland RailPasses, with unlimited train travel? 3. When they say unlimited, does it include my trip from Schipol toCentraal Station? 4. When they say unlimited, does it include Tram rides in Amsterdam? Thanks! I'm excited about my trip!
Answer: I assume that you mean the Eurodomino tickets.(Price: see http://www.win.tue.nl/win/cs/fm/laan/ns/fares-gb-red.html)It depends on how far you are going to travel. But you don't have to makevery long trips to make them worth buying. Yes. I believe you can even buy your Eurodomino ticket at the Schipholrailway station (it's probably cheaper than buying it in the USA).But if you arrive in the evening it may be wiser to use an ordinary ticketto get to Amsterdam CS as you may end up using one day of your pass justto get to your hotel (cost: 6 guilders; about 4 dollars) Probably not. Trams are not trains, you see... :-)For your tram rides, you'd best buy a so-called 'strippenkaart'(see http://www.win.tue.nl/win/cs/fm/laan/strippen-gb.html
