Question: This is not strictly a programming question, but I hope you will indulge me. I'll be attending the Apple Technology World Tour in Amsterdam (sort of amini-WWDC) and wondered if anyone knew of reasonably-priced hotels. Thecheapest quotes I've been getting from travel agents here are of the orderof UKP 100/day (or about 260 Dfl) for 2 people (+ extra for our 2-year old+ baby). I'm sure these are very reasonable rates for city-centre hotels(you probably couldn't get a cardboard box in a doorway in central Londonfor that price :-), but cheaper is better... Unfortunately, the travel agents only know of hotels in the brochures andthey are all city-centre ones. The conference is at the Okura Hotel, whichis somewhere in the region of the Van Gogh Musuem if I read my mapcorrectly, so anything within a half-hour journey will be just fine.(Well, not *anything* - somewhere not too seedy hopefully.) E-mail me your recommendations and I will summarize them for anyone who'sinterested. And if you save us some money on the hotel bills, I'll be sureto look you up at the conference and buy you a drink.
Answer: Dunno what it is like in Europe, but here in America if you don't tellthem you have kids, and then request a cot for the kid to sleep on whenyou arrive they usually give you the cot for free, but if you ask inadvance you get charged for bringing the kid along. Not that this will save you a ton of money...
