I love Barbirolli's story about how he became a 'cellist. He said that as aboy he started with the violin, but habitually wandered around his family'shome while practicing and drove everyone mildly crazy. Finally his fatherbought him a 'cello and said that's what he should study. When you play the'cello, you have to stay put in a chair.
