Coffee Shops In Amsterdam

Question:
well "favorite" coffee shop is a complex subject.

I've been visiting amsterdam at least once a year for a decade now andI go to different coffeeshops for different reasons.

unlike a lot of people I -like- the Grasshopper onN.Z.Voorburgwaal...I like the sunroom in front...and it's gettingnicer and more plush as the years go by...and it's convenient with thetramstop right in front...the weed is good, but it's not thebest...but I still enjoy smoking one while I have my morning coffee, juice, and newspaper (the Herald Tribune, it has doonesbury).

the Green House Centrum (on the edge of the red light district) isnice, has a full bar, a free web pc to check your hotmail/yahooaccount, and top quality smoke...I'll stop in for a beer and a smokebefore or after dinner (there's a good cheap chinese restaurant on thecorner...Golden Chopsticks, 1 oude doulenstraat...one of thoseaddresses I just happen to remember.

there are LOTS of city center coffeeshops I just won't visit...theylook bad, the kinda place where you could probably score some "brown"if you asked the right customers.... and I only smoke in nice places.

the thing is you don't have to "worry" about finding a coffeeshop inamsterdam, they're everywhere, just pick one you like the looks of.

Answer: I like the Grasshopper as well. When I was in Amsterdam last year I stayedon the Onna in the Jordaan District, which I liked very much. I visited thisone coffee house (I've forgotten the name, but it's right next to thedreaded Bulldog up near Centraal Station. Anyway, I was tired of hearingrave music and "The best of Bob Marley" (nothing wrong with Mr. Marley, it'sjust that that particular CD was all most places had), so when I heard DinahWashington playing from this little tiki-themed coffee shop, I had to go in.It's been a long while since I've have such good black Lebonese hash. Yummy!
