Will I start a new tourist visa upon my return?

What are my options for extending a tourist visa? I hear a lot about Laos andPenang and also the place in Bangkok.

How often can you go to Laos or Penang before Thai authorities say enoughis enough?

Answer: Whatever visa you have now will be void when you leave the country onthe 21st. If you come back a week later you will receive a transitvisa valid for 30 days.

If you need longer than 30 days, you can go to the Thai consulate inAmsterdam and apply for a tourist visa. Then you can stay for 2months, and you have the option to extend it by another month for atotal of three months before you have to leave the country again.

You don't need to extend if you plan to leave the country anyway.. AndI would advise you to apply for a double or triple entry visa at theThai consulate in Amsterdam. Perhaps even a non-immigrant visa ifyou're in Thailand for study or work or another good reason.

Depends. There are no guarantees here; some people get hassle all thetime, some do it for years on end. If you really need to stay a longtime then it's probably better to find a more official way of stayingin the country.
