Question: Several of my college friends are planning to travel to Europe, specificallyAmsterdam, in mid November. I have 3 questions: 1. Does anyone know of a REPUTABLE, RELIABLE travel agency specializing indiscounted tickets (like airhitch, perhaps?) 2. Is it cheaper to fly into Brussels and then take the train to Amsterdam? Ihave heard that a lot of people do this... 3. Which rail pass program is best for getting to Amsterdam from Brussels, plus going into Germany and perhaps Paris? Appreciate any info.
Answer: Airhitch does not qualify for either of your adjectives. Are you a student?Try STA Travel or Travel CUTS (or Council in a pinch). Call some airlinesand ask if they have any specials going. Pay attention to the Sunday Travelsection and weekday section 1 ads in the New York Times or your closestExtremely Major Newspaper - there are often specials advertised there withonly days or weeks' purchase window. Sometimes, but certainly not always. CityBird may have cheap flights from acity near you to Brussels, and depending on which of their fares you get, itmay be worth the trouble. Is it essential that you use a rail pass program? For that few trips, you'llprobably save a whole lot of money just buying train or bus tickets as yougo.
