Question: I am a writer focusing on free online travel guides. Yesterday, I finished myguide to Amsterdam, the fourth guide I have written in a row within one year. Now I am not sure if I was still able to "convey the magic" or if it has comeout flat and cynical. I would value any advice, comments, assessments or even flames (in the lattercase please give my an advance warning so that I can don my fireproof armour
Answer: liked your pages about Amsterdam. Nothing flat and cynical about them. Youseem to have enjoyed the city very much and it must've been sunny and warmwhen you were here, since you describe the locals as always happy andsmiling and sinigng Just two remarks:"The Netherlands are part of the European Union. Hence their currency is theEuro."- Being part of the EU doesn't mean a country also has the Euro. (Forinstance UK, Denmark, etc.) "Should service have been outstanding, you can give up to 10% of the totalamount of your bill. However, this should be an absolute exception."- That's not really true. A tip of about 10% (or rounded up to the next'round' figure, like 5, 10, 20 euro etc), is expected. If you're reallydissatisfied with the service or the food, don't leave a tip. Good luck with your guide.
