A couple URLs that might answer some questions.. Ask Jeeves at www.ask.comis a great 'metasearch' engine where you ask your question in naturallanguage, e.g., "Where can I find information on Amsterdam?" It will returnresults, both sites chosen through editors at Jeeves who search the web forthe best sites AND it also searches all the major engines at once . Theresults are generally high quality and very targeted, relevant. Has anyonebeen using it? It's my first stop these days when I need to do a search.

I would also, check the new Hard Rock Cafe site at www.hardrock.com becausethere is information on the local cafes and it might tell you who's playingthe Amsterdam Hard Rock while you're there (actually, I think you can do asearch under Amsterdam and it will tell you all the live music going on), orit may provide links to sites that can answer your questions or give youtips on getting the most out of your trip. It would be fun to see thememorabilia at the Amsterdam cafe. I'll bet that's one of the cooler HRCs.

Answer: Go to Bob's hostel. The lady down the street comes in every couple of days andinvites some of the crowd to go on her legendary pub crawl. You give her like15 guilders and that'll get you 2 beers, plus her services. You end up windingthrough the city hitting bar, "bar", bar, "bar" etc... end up (if you canlast) at the Hard Rock late. Truly a blast. Especially if you get a reallychill crowd going. What a great town.
