Amsterdam Boat Tour

Question:
There are so many things you can do, though some are not so cheap as youwant them to be... for example:

We have many zoo's here: Artis on Amsterdam, Ouwe hans dierenpark in Rhenen, and a very good choice would be the 'Noorder dierenpark' in Emmen, though about2 hours from Amsterdam. Another interesting Zoo is Afifauna in Alphen aan deRijn. This Zoo has also lots of toys and attractions for the youngsters. Thelast one I mention is a 'Wildlife' Zoo where animals 'walk free' and the onebarred are you and the kids (in a car of course). This one is in Hilvarenbeekand about 1 1/2 hours from Amsterdam.

We also have some entertainment parks here. Recently a Walibie park opened inFlevoland. But also the Efteling is recommendable. Both look alike Six Flagsbut offer more varied atrractions. Flevoland is about 45 minuten from Amsterdamand the Efteling about 1 1/2 hours.

A cheaper option is to go to the beach. Kids just love it. Though there is noguarantee that the weather will be fine if you are around. There are also mayparks and small more or less cultivated forrests where you can walk around orrest while the kids are playing on the green fields. Some parks have toys forkids or small basins where they can play in shallow water, like the 'Amsterdam-se Bos' obviously in Amsterdam. There is a 'Pannekoekenhuis' (pankcakes?) whichkids will love to go to.

In Aalsmeer are proud to have the largest plant and flower auction in the worldIn fact, the building in which it resides is the largest single spaced ground-building. I think one can let all the 24 WK soccerteams play in it without anyproblem. And you can visit flower and plant nurseries in the area.

There are many cheese farms to be visited and even cheese markets. Or go toauthentic, nostalgic places like Urk, Volendam, Edam.

There are many famous castles like the Muiderslot near Amsterdam or castleLoevestein where Hugo de Groot managed to escape from by hiding in a woodenbookcase. We have also a lot of musea, of which some may be of interest forkids. Or feed the pigeons at the Dam, the city center of Amsterdam, take aboat tour through the canals in Amsterdam or do it by canal bike. Visit thelargest harbour in the world (Rotterdam), and take a boat tour through it wileseeing gigantic ocean ships being cleaned or boarded....

Keep in mind that some attractions do cost you money. In most cases the young-sters are allowed to get in free. If you travel by public transport you canbuy a day- or weekticket for tram, bus, metro or buy a 'dagkaart' or daycardwhich includes the NS (Dutch Railways) trip and the ticket for the Zoo, park orwhatever. I think that the most expensive ticket for a Zoo or entertainmentparkis about $20 drinks are not too expensive. Traintickets depend on the distancetraveled and on one-way or round trips, from $5 to $40 (cross country).

Try to contact the local or national Travel agency (of the Netherlands) or askinformation at any traveling agency and ask for folders.

If you arrive here you can always go to the local 'VVV' for information aboutthings to do, hostels, attractions, parks, anything.

If you need more information, please let me know.
