Greetings! I shall be staying at Amsterdam Airport for seven hours. Myplane will arrive at 6 AM. [06:00 hrs]in the morning and depart on12:40 PM [12:40 hrs] on same day. The tours from airports leave about9 AM in the morning. It seems minimum time for a tour is two and halfhours. Will it give me enough time to get back at airport and gothrough customs/immigration/security etc to board the plane at 12:40PM? With thanks.

Answer: The boarding times on flights from Amsterdam seem to be considerably inadvance of the flight times. During our recent trip, we had a boarding timean hour and fifteen minutes prior to departure for Madrid, and an hour andforty-five minutes prior for our return flight to the U.S. If you were on a9 AM tour for +/-2-1/2 hours, you might be cutting things pretty close.

Two weeks ago during a long layover we put our carry-on stuff in a lockerand took a train in to Central Station. Even though it was overcast andfelt cold after three weeks in Spain, it was good to walk down to Dam Squareand wander a few blocks over to walk along a couple of canals for an hour orso. The train only took about 15 minutes each way and cost very little.
